About Artist:
Sha-Kong Wang, who also paints under the name of H. Gordon Wang, was born in 1959 in China to parents who were both well-known artists. His early works were selected for entry in many youth art shows. By the age of eighteen, his paintings were being purchased by European and American art collectors. 1983 he went to Boston and entered the Massachusetts College of Art where he earned, along with several awards, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors. He then began a Master of Fine Arts degree at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Two years later, Wang and his wife, who is also an artist, moved to Canada. For Wang, painting is a process in which the artist can interact with color and light. The striking juxtaposition of hues, which result in a dazzling sense of light is one of the outstanding characteristics of his work. Finding the traditional brush insufficient in expressing the vitality of his images, Wang has painted exclusively with palette knives for the past few years. As a result, his work possesses an opulent surface texture; the viewers are tempted to touch the dabs of paint on the canvas. These tangible facets contribute to the visual excitement created by the artist, playing with yet another light source – the light coming from the environment where the painting hangs. Wang has had many group and one-man shows and and his work is widely collected by hundreds of corporate and private collectors. == Born in China, to parents who are both artists, Gordon enhanced his natural skills with solid skill training in China and the United States. Painting at an early age, Gordon sold his first painting at age 18 and he hasn’t stopped since. His collection of lively prints grace the walls of many collectors worldwide. Gordon currently resides in the Toronto area with his family after moving to Canada in 1989. == Sha-Kong Wang, or H.Gordon Wang as he is known in North America, was born in China to well known artist parents.
